Phantom limb pain and how to treat it

Just watched a short presentation by neurologist V S Ramachandran where he talks about a treatment he invented for curing phantom limb pain. It works by using mirrors to fool part of the brain into thinking that the phantom limb is really there and able to move without pain. Even though the patient is fully aware of the illusion he claims that it works extremely well and you can make your own mirror device for a couple of pounds. See the presentation here
